At present, there are many kinds of guitar pickups, which can be mostly classified into active pickups and passive pickups, the former type refers to pickups driven by battery and with ceramic magnet as its main materials, while the latter type refers to pickups not driven by any battery and with AlNiCo magnet as main materials. Pickups consist mainly of magnet, with alnico and ceramic as the main types. AlNiCo mgnet consists of Aluminum, Nickel and Cobalt, with this magnet, the pickup features mellow and full tamber, quite gentle and penetrating, suitable for performing Blue, Jazz and POP music; while ceramic magnet is mixture made out of ceramic and Rare earth, features a longer service life, big power and low noise, quite suitable for playing rock and roll.

Magnets used as component for musical instrument

AlNiCo features very high coercivity, will not demagnetize or experience change of magnetic characteristics under natural environment and normal conditions, even after a long time use, it will be no obvious magnetic loss at all. The pickup magnets our company produces mainly are AlNiCo and Ceramic magnet. AlNiCo magnet consists of Aluminum, Nickel and Cobalt, with this magnet, the pickup features mellow and full tamber, quite gentle and penetrating, suitable for performing Blue, Jazz and POP music; while ceramic magnet is mixture made out of ceramic and Rare earth, features a longer service life, big power and low noise, quite suitable for playing rock and roll. Although the turns of copper windings may also play an role in influencing the voice quality of pickups, the pickup magnet itself is the critical factor.
